If…  (Part one of two)

I’m enjoying some early morning moments in the quiet before the rest of my family wakes up. Drinking a delightful caffeinated beverage, I’m reflecting on my weekend spent of a local re-simulcast of the If: Gathering, a women’s event that happens once a year in Austin, TX.

The event in Austin took place a couple of weeks ago.  If you want more details about the organization/events, please follow the link above.   My purpose in writing this post is deeply personal, so I am itching to get right into the heart of the post.

For some time now, I’ve been yearning for more of Jesus. I would love to say that I’m always in an intimate place in my relationship with Him, but that would be a big  fat lie. The biggest and fattest of all lies. I get so caught up in trying to control things…wrapped up in my own skin, that (let’s be blunt) I IGNORE Him. Those words are painful…devastating to type. I ignore my Creator, my Saviour, my Best Friend, the Lover of my soul. I favor garbage over Him. That might seem harsh. But we cannot see breakthrough in our walk with Christ until we get brutally honest with ourselves about who we are and who He is. Until we know who we are without Him, we won’t know our NEED for Him.

That, my friends, is where I am. This event could not have come at a better time for me.

Instead of going into great detail in this post, I’m sharing an illustrated version.

The IF: Local event I attended was held at First Baptist Church in Whitehouse, TX. The worship, meals, fellowship, and leadership for this event was phenomenal. Even though I knew hardly a soul, I felt welcomed and at home.

I took an enormous amount of notes. The speakers…amazing. The words God laid on their hearts to share were exactly what He want me to hear in this season.

I found out about this local event through a Facebook friend’s post.  I was grateful to have at least one friend in the crowd and I’m so grateful to have met some new friends.

I just decided mid-post that I will break this post and into two parts. I will go into greater detail in part two…to come soon. But for now, here’s a snippet of day 1: session 1.
