It’s been quite some time since I’ve updated my little corner of the internet, and, let me tell you, A LOT has happened in that time. Enough to fill 100 blog posts…well, maybe a little fewer than that. I’ll try to spare you the longest blog post ever and break my updating into several posts.
I’m dedicating this blog post to the BIG THING. I just started training for a FULL marathon. Not a half. This is a monster goal that I’ve had for a long time. It’s scary. It’s exciting. It’s very, very intimidating. But it’s for real. I’m even registered for it, thanks to this amazing man in my life (but that’s for another blog post)
So, in roughly 140 days, I’ll be completing a 26.2 mile challenge…probably one of the biggest challenges of my life.
I started my training this week. I am using a run/walk plan from the book, Marathoning for Mortals, and my first week ended with a long run of 5 miles.
I won’t lie; I had a million crazy thoughts during that run spanning from..”This is gonna be awesome!” to “There’s no freakin’ way I can do 26.2 of these stupid mile things!”
Clearly I need to work on my mental game. 🙂
I’m not happy with my time…I hardly ever am, but it’s so dang hot out there. My hope is that as the seasons change and I get my miles/endurance under my belt, my times will improve.
I also need to focus on my nutrition, but I’ll save all that for another post.
My hope is to update this blog weekly with my progress on this journey. Wish me luck!
